Learn a Little About
and Sweet Speech Co.
Sophia
I became a speech-language pathologist because I believe communication has the power to change a child's life. It opens the door to learning, strengthens relationships, and gives children the confidence to express who they are and engage with the world around them.
I hold both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Baylor University. I am a Texas-licensed Speech-Language Pathologist and hold the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) through the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. My specialized training includes Science of Reading–informed literacy practices, Reading by Design, Wilson Reading System®, Read Naturally®, Gestalt Language Processing, and sensory-informed speech-language intervention. With experience in both private practice and school-based settings, I provide individualized, evidence-based, and play-based care that supports each child’s speech, language, literacy, and communication development.
I became a speech-language pathologist because I believe communication has the power to change a child’s life—opening doors to learning, connection, and confidence. My experience serving children in foster care taught me how deeply safety and relationships influence a child’s growth, shaping my whole-child approach to therapy.
Inspired by Proverbs 16:24, I created Sweet Speech Co. to provide compassionate, individualized care rooted in both excellence and heart. My hope is that every child feels known, celebrated, and encouraged while discovering the joy of communication.
At Sweet Speech Co., where language meets heart is more than a tagline - it's the foundation of everything we do. We believe children learn best when they feel safe, connected, and deeply understood. Through meaningful relationships, we nurture communication with compassion, purpose, and the belief that every child has a unique voice worth celebrating.
At Sweet Speech Co., play is never "just play." Every activity is intentionally designed to support speech, language, literacy, and social communication while following your child's interests and strengths. By partnering with families, we transform everyday moments into opportunities for meaningful communication and lasting growth.

"I cannot recommend Ms. Sophia enough. She was amazing with our middle from the first hello til our last session, following his lead while still challenging him to grow. With her, therapy felt like play time but with all the benefits of learning and growing. Often times we’d pass the center and he’d get excited thinking it was therapy day asking for “Phia”. I believe he would not have made such leaps and bounds in his communication had he had a different speech therapist. We wish we still lived close to continue our speech journey with her!"
"We started our journey 3 years ago and have had the great opportunity to have Ms.Sophia as our son's teacher. She has been an absolute blessing and a wonderful teacher and we owe our son's vastly growing speech to her. To a boy who could barely say a sentence to a little boy who can tell you the scientific names of dinosaurs is all because of Ms.Sophia and the impact she had and the knowledge she blessed our son with. We will forever be so grateful for helping our baby to find his voice."
"Going to speech therapy for the first time with your autistic kids can be scary, but Ms. Sophia made us feel so welcomed and met my kids exactly where they were at. My daughter can especially have trouble in a classroom or therapy setting and Ms. Sophia took the extra time to learn her and her interests to make the most of our time together. Like having her favorite game or activity ready when we came in, knowing her favorite characters names, and helping me with her AAC device. To say we were sad to lose her would be the biggest understatement. Ms. Sophia was such a special first part of our speech therapy journey, and any child would be lucky to have her be apart of their journey too!"
"Sophia is absolutely amazing. After one session with her we could tell that she was genuine and had so much passion and love for helping others. We grew to love her over the year that she worked with our boy. When she started working with him he could barely say a handful of words, after a few months the amount of words he could say had grown and within the year he actually started speaking in short sentences! Sophia made each session so much fun, he loved the days we got to see her. He thought it was just play time but she had a knack for getting him to make different sounds and trying to pronounce different words. Sophia has such a special gift working with kids and we are so grateful for her. "
